HT is being treated to a new deore groupset from merlin cycles as my drive train is extremely worn now

what would be a great vfm wheelset option to accomodate the 3x10 set up? - wheels will dictate the groupset config for the brake discs - would prefer 6 bolt unless centerlock is better / more flexible.

Deore 525 Disc Hubs - Sun MTX29 Rims (26") - http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/w ... ms-26.html

Superstar AMX Wheelset - http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=535

What have you got now? Why won't 10 speed work on that?

If it will work I;d rather save a bit longer and get the Stans/Superstar wheels.

    ^^^^ This

10 speed will fit what you have. Save up and get something more worthwhile.

So stick with those, put the 10 speed stuff on, and get something like the Superstar/Crest wheels when you can afford them - they're on sale for about £220 at the moment, which is a bargain.

thanks. they have just arrived in QR adaptor flavour front and rear - black rims with red hubs

realised that the QR's are not included. so need to order some - doh!

looks like there are 2 types 9mm and 10mm - set of both required as far as I can see
  • You will need standard 9mm QR skewers. As long as they are for MTB and say either standard, or 9mm qr they will be fine.

Or just take the ones off your previous wheels.

Get Shimano, if you're buying new ones. Others may be prettier or lighter, but the closed cam design works so much better than anything else.
