Given the prices quoted it looks like they are buying Choakleys in from China and doubling their money. If you want some reproduction Jawbones look on Ebay.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

  • I have a ride that takes me through sprotborough, perhaps I should call into the "showroom" and do some investigative journalism?

I have a pair of choakleys for comparison...!
  • I've got a pair of Choakley Jawbones and I can't fault them. I don't think for one minute that the lenses match the real deal...but I wear UV filtering contact lenses with them, so am not unduly worried.

Everyone seems to be working on the assumption you will receive a set of Chinese fake Jawbones. I'd say there is a good chance you'll lose your cash and not receive anything in return.

I bought mine from Shining Star…. or something like that, it was a while ago. I'm 100% happy with mine and as mentioned above, changed the lenses so I have decent optics. No other issues so far. I actually have a real pair or Jawbones so have two pairs of lenses, the dark lenses for sunny days stayed in the real Jawbones and the clears went into the Choakleys for wet/night/dull days.

That website just looks dodgy and I'm sure Oakley would have a lot to say about them using their brand/images...

I've got a pair of jawbones and a pair of radars from http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/shiningstar20 ... ksid=p3686 and they are absolutley brilliant. Like pigeons in flight above I wear UV blocking contacts so not too worried about that but I did get some savage sunglasses tan the other day and the polarized lenses are indistinguishable from my genuine lenses. Whilst driving there is still no reflection from other cars windscreens.
I would buy these any day, cannot recommend them highly enough!

I'm thinking of getting some of these from the link above, shining star eBay. Does anyone know if the lenses do give the proper UV protection?

I've never bought anything that's a copy and just want to know that these won't do any harm to my eyes.

If only I could justify the money for some real Oakleys.

I got some very funky tan lines from the lenses the other day... And the fact that the polarized lenses are SO good makes me think they are ok...however if I ever stopped wearing uv blocking contact lenses I think id buy some lenses from eBay... Search for walleva lenses on eBay. They are made by a reputable lens company and conform to all the relevant standards, but are a quarter of the price of Oakley ones. So you'd get the excellent quality Chinese frame with proper impact and uv tested lenses for 40-50 quid. Still saving £100.

Allow 21 days from ordering to receipt which is fair considering the journey they have to make. There might be something on the sale listing giving delivery times.

Yes, I bought clear genuine lenses and they fit perfectly.

I've compared the chinese ones with genuines and swapped lenses back and forth and they fit.
I got some jawbones which took 3 weeks the some radars which took 2. Extremely happy with both...

One more thing- Do you have to pay any thing for customs other than the postage?

Only paid the Ebay sales price, the seller marked the goods as a gift so no import duty. I think the initial price is under the HMRC threshold anyway.

The answer to your 1st question is yes - kosher Oakley jawbone lenses fit perfectly into my shiningstar jawbones.

The lenses provided by shiningstar are not 'identical' to proper Oakley ones. But they're pretty bloody good for the beer money you pay.

Apparently poly-carbonate and other similar materials which are used to make sunglasses lenses are naturally 100% UV resistant, its actually more expensive to make lenses that let UV though!
