In the interest of making Cake Stop more interesting does anyone want to join me in counting. I'll start

One.
The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

I think you're slightly out of sequence there Izza; I can't quite see how five to eight fits between 11 and 13.

Twelve of the artifacts missing from the Egyptian Museum, Cairo have been returned, including six bronze statuettes dated to the Late Period, a small limestone statue of a sphinx, and five necklaces.

    The missing 12

sorry couldn't post a picture of them as they were missing

    It really wasn't that hard.

The Tower that houses Big Ben has 4 sides and each side has a clock with two hands, i.e. a total of 8.

    4 + 8 = 12

Then again it could have been the number of months in each year that the tower has been upstanding since it was built - 12

Maybe it was the number of times the Duck tours pass the tower on average per hour - 4 (going west), 4 going east and 4 up the river = `12

Nothing random there. 2007 cubed divided by the number of flower petals, subtracted from the number of pubes on their combined bodies = 14 . Simple.
