Indeed i am having issues, when applying the brake, the damn thing wobbles like hell, feels so loose, however after reading another thread it seems the problem may be with the bearings (I already tightened the top bolt)

    which would do nothing.

    newly fitted fork?

or has it happened over time?

I have had it on about 2 years now, but its only just started to irritate me, so it might have actually been happening before, im not too sure. How ever I do remember one thing I did a long time ago, I didn't have any grease for the headset bearings so i decided to use Vaseline, now that you know there is Vaseline in there, what do you recommend?

Oh and additionally I am unsure of the year, but my guess would be 2008 or 2009

Strip the bearings down, use grease, rebuild and preload properly ("tightening the top bolt" achieves nothing)
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

That picture looks normal for a rockshox well my recon is the same anyway
if you look at the crown really closely with a light its machined away to a step hence the taper end on the steerer
if my explanation makes any sence :D

FIXED! Turns out i didnt leave enough room between the top of the steerer tube and the preload cap, poped on another spacer and bam no more wobble

In the original question, he is asking if the steerer tube position is normal.

If the steerer tube was bent away from the crown, like this:

Then the crown race would would be at the wrong angle to the steerer and your headset would not adjust correctly.
