Looking for a new bike!

Hey everyone, my name's Jack and I'm really into cycling. I've got an elevn year old Trek 7200 FX, and it's starting to die out... I've done over 500 miles since buying it second-hand in February, and now the bottom bracket is getting really squeaky, the headset keeps sizing up as I turn (Which made me fall off a few times) and the spokes are becoming looser and looser.
I want to start Road Racing competitions, but with a bike like this, I've got no chance!
So I need some Bike Buying advice. I'm looking for a Good quality, reliable Road bike between £300 and £500. I'm 6 foot tall, so I'm looking at 58-60cm Frame size, and it's gotta have skinny 700c wheels. I don't mind about the gearing as long as there are two chainrings and at least 7 sprockets.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

Have patience ;-)
I'd take a look at Halfords budget options ie the TdF and the Virtuoso.0 -
Also take a look at cannondale Caad 8. Should get a 2011 model brand new for £5000

I've always been a bit wary of Halfords, they seem to rip you off in terms of quality!
The Cannondale looks amazing though, I'd probably go with something like that to be honest...!0 -
Find a good deal on 2011 Specialized Allez range.
I've had a 2011 entry level Allez since November, has served me pretty well.Norco Sight C7.2
Giant Defy 1 Disc0 -
Can't find any cheap Allez's, they're all over £500. Awesome bikes though!0

With Halfords you need to avoid Apollo. As far as I can tell the Carrera and Boardman stuff is good.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Carrera and Boardman offer some of the best value bikes about.0
