Quick shot of Cuddles warming up. Pouring sweet (& cotton wool up his hooter!)

I saw one guy (might have been a Sky rider) who had the cotton wool up his nose as he started. Anyone know what that is for?

Come to think of it why is it there for a warmup?
I'm left handed, if that matters.

According to twitter Froome forgot to take his cotton buds out of his nose before riding! Still did well considering.

I'm sure they have Vicks or something on the cotton wool....

Anyone think Martin would have been faster than Canc? P&P were estimating a loss of 16 seconds. I would have thought more with the loss of momentum.

    Voeckler came in 109'th.

He was the best Europcar rider.

One thing not mentioned yet is that Peter Sagan's failure meant he didn't get any green jersey points today in one of the stages he has the edge on pure sprinters. He would have hoped to get at least 10

No problem at all with Voeckler. It's just surprising that the slowest Garmin and Sky riders were quicker than the fastest Europcar rider.

GC Riders compared to Wiggins (I may have missed some):

    Kloden +12
    Brajkovic +15

    Leipheimer +21
    Voeckler +26
    Valverde +28
    Schleck +31
    Sanchez +33
    Rolland +38
Given that this is one fifteenth of the total time trial kilometers in the TDF, for a very (very) rough estimate of the time gaps from the TT's alone you could multiply all these numbers by fifteen. Obviously climbers may well do better on longer time trials with some bumps in them - but still, the time gaps do add up if you look at them in that way.

Good on Fabu. HUGE shame he hasnt got a stunning Swiss Nat TT kit. In 2004 he won this exact same prologue riding for Fassa.

Poor from Martin. (EDIT: didnt know he had a puncture)

    Nice scheme on Gils bike:

With those helmets I'm not surprised.

is there anything Sagan cant do

99 out of 100 riders would have crashed after doing this @ 27 secs. Class.

Think its fine as if you looked at the bike from the other side it would be the 'right' way round.
