Hi,

Cut a long story short but I have just had a refund for my 8 week old Boardman so have £1000-£1300 to spend although I would prefer to be at the lower end of the budget.
I'm not sure whether to go full sus or stick to HT, my riding will mainly be Cannock,Nant Yr Arian and towpaths for the commute to work.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated but obviously not a boardman as had 3 bikes and all had quality issues.

Shame to have three bikes all with problems. You could go full sus but you will get a better HT for the money. What sort of riding are those locations?

XC really nothing majorly technical so nothing a HT couldn't do, I do like the look of the Canyon Nerve XC 7 and looks a pretty good spec for the money.

Is it worth the extra £200 or so over the 6?

After the trouble you had with the boardman do you really want to go down the mail order route?

For that money I'd have the Saracen Zen X, Charge Duster and Cooker and the Whyte 901 on my shortlist. I bought a 29er recently for commuting and it really suits me and the XC commute.

I agree that has crossed my mind also, but the spec for the money is hard to beat.

Cheers for those will have a look at them.

sounds like he would be better off going down that route after the trouble he's had with shop bought bikes, as for those particular canyons, i'm sure they are a few people here viewtopic.php?f=10002&t=12789920&start=320 that can tell you more

Cheers, I have already had a good read of that thread. Seems most people are pretty happy with them. After spending all day scouring the net I can't find much that matches Canyon for spec apart from Boardman :?

At least with canyon if there is a problem I have read their after service is pretty good and they will arrange collection of the bike instead of me making several trips to the store like I did with the Boardman.

    Thanks again,

The slide 5.0 looks a cracking spec for the money.

I have the hardtail team 7.0 and really like it so far.
All the components are quality the frame is really the only unknown but its german so should be pretty reliable.
Somebody else got one of the full suspensions if you look in the your rides sub forum you should find it.

Delivery was a little over two weeks from the time of ordering although i did order it on a saturday and the jubilee was around the time i got a message saying it was shipped so this may of further delayed the shipping as it was sat in a german courier for a few days

If you keep an eye out on the bike-discount.de site some of the bikes will come up in the deal of the day i got 100 euros knocked off so it came to around £750 delivered in the end.
I seem to recall somebody else got a further discount by phoning them directly and asking if they could do a better price.

I think I've decided to give FS a whirl and go for the Canyon Nerve XC7.

This Ghost RT Lector 5700 looks like a good deal for the spec

    Very nice.

In some lights its darker than others, however its very subtle regardless. Alas it isn't the lairy mamba green they offer on other models :(
