Replacing brake disk

I need to replace a brake disc but have noticed it is not the wavey type, just a normal circle. Does it matter if I replace it with the wavey one, I know the size matters but not sure about the edging ?

Sorry for another basic question

    Functionally identical. But your bike might not be bling enough to carry it off,,,
