So been a while since I posted last and a lot has changed.
After a part by part transformation, my old 456 has become...
A year 2000 Kona King Kikapu (Really? what a strange choice)
Anyway she's quite nice, sort of borderline retro, but far from retro build. Bought the frame brand new from CRC.
I'm not all that flush with cash, so it's been a slow process, but I'm pleased with the result
Yes it's a tiny frame, but after back surgery I'm still left with a relatively short torso vs my leg length. It looks a bit odd but it works.
Mixed selection of parts, some new, some old. Spec goes something like this:
Frame: 2000 King Kikapu w/ Fox Float
Fork: Marzocchi Marathon R
Front Wheel: Mavic XC717 on Sun Ringle with DT revolution Spokes
Rear Wheel: DT on XTR with aerolite spokes
Tyres: Race King 2.0 w/ Michelin Latex Tubes
Cassette: XT
Mech: XTR
Cranks: Deore Hollowtech
Pedals: Egg Beater 1s
Seatpost: Thomson Elite w/ Thomson Clamp
Saddle: Selle Maxflite Flow
Stem: Thomson Elite X4 90mm
Bars: Bontrager XXX lite carbon
Bar ends: Mt Zoom
Levers: Cane Creek Direct Curve
Shifters: Deore w/ghetto indicator window removal
Brakes: BB7s
Rotors: KCNC Razor 160/140mm
Cables: Alligator I-Link

Its got soul! I like it! What are the BB7's like? I was thinking of getting some a while back.0

The BB7s are wicked. Even with tiny rotors. I previously had Deore hydraulics, which were more powerful, but I like being able to adjust everything easily on the Avids, and not having to bleed etc every time I shorten or change a hose!My Yeti ARC - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129091750

Yes thanks. Heard all of the seatpost length comments on my original Inbred build!
It's perfectly safe, a good couple of inches further in that the minimum insert on the Thomson. My Yeti ARC - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129091750 -
