Hi all,

Looking for a bike for my wife for under £300. Just some light riding, and maybe some blue trails.

Been looking at these;

Rockrider 5.2
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-52 ... cre-detail

Carrera Valour
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... 65499#tab1

What do you think?

or any other recommendations greatly appreciated,

Thanks.
Rockrider 8.1 (2011)

    I have a Carrera Valour and for the comparison, you should get the Rockrider.

    Although the frame design and positioning is very good for its price, it lacks quality on gearing and the forks are useless when taking it on terrain when you lift off. For the price, i personally think that is great but if you do go for the Valour, its worth changing it from a freewheel to a cassette system and upgrading the forks.
    My god road cycling is scary! I'm going to keep my relaxing rides to the trails where everything is green, fast and less crazy.

    I'll be happy to swap your wife for a bike. Where do I collect my £300?

    Get her something better, similar to yours. If you love her.

  • Smallest carrera frame is 16" from recollection which is ok if she's 5'4" or more.

    I'd also look at ashcycles and the women specific Giant Revel 1W or maybe 0W. Maybe not the greatest hardtails out there but she'll probably like the womens saddle, colorways and for up to blue trails these are fine.
