Please help!

I have been informed that i can use standard steerer forks in my Giant Trance x4 (2011) frame IF i use a converter.

I have looked into Tapered forks but you seem to pay a real premium for them. The equivalent non-taper forks seem to go much cheaper.

Some have told me that you lose a bit of fork stiffness but that its not worth worrying about.

I am thinking about getting a set of 2012 Rockshox Revelation RLT forks:

Merlin informed me that I could use these forks, subject to using some Hope headset cups:

Would I not be able to get away with just using a Hope HS136 1.5" - 1 1/8" Reducer?

Am i being sensible considering a non-taper fork? and could i get away with just using the HS136 reducer?

PS i know the Trance x4 has a 120mm fork, but the higher end versions come from Giant with a 140mm fork. My intention is to reduce the travel of the Revelations to 140mm (ie with Giant's allowable limits)

Any advice is very welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Alex
