Does this look right? (front mech)

I've bought a front mech for my dirty jo build but after fitting i'm not sure I've got the right type of mech.
It looks like the gear cable will have to come across quite a long way to get the mech to move. Do I need to get another mech?
A few pics which might show what I mean...
Thanks Nathan

It appears you must feed the cable from the top through the hook and under black pivot and then fix it with the bolt. I think it is top pull but don't bet on it0

you just attach it directly.
downloading the manual would show you the routing.
what mech is it? part number."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Bought secondhand.
Cable would need to come down and across the back of the frame to be clamped by the bolt.
I'll have to remove it to find the model number.Cheers Nathan.0 -

Thanks for all the replies lads.
This is my first build so I'm not exactly sure on things, sort of learning as I go along.
I have found the 'ad' from which I bought it and this is what it says 'Deore LX Front Mech.. £10 posted
fits 28.6 31.8 or 34.9 and works either top or bottom pull.. in good condition'Cheers Nathan.0 -
All correct, yes it does pull across, my daughter has similar on her DJ.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Looks fine to me, cable attaches directly - at a bit of an angle.0
