Hi guys

A friend of mine is off to Cwm Carn in a couple of weeks and although he's a competent rider, he (or should I say his wife) doesn't want him coming back a broken mess. He's already got a full face helmet, 661 Rage knee pads and Race Face arm pads but is looking for something to protect the torso/back. Done a quick search but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of product recommendations so has anyone got any suggestions of what to get ?

Cheers

Skill, talent and a big dose of awesomeness. None of which I possess but they're nice to have.

I'm sure some DH type will be along with some actual useful stuff.

Nukeproof Critical Jacket got a great review on bikeradar, and is also available as a vest (ie no arms)

Depends on budget and how far you want to go really, I have 661 sub gear top which protects shoulder, chest or Nukeproof Critical as above or go the full hog and get a 661 evo pressure suit which I also have, expensive but comfy not to warm and loads of protection.

Worth every penny imo, Ive tested its impact resistance quite a few times and its very good

I use a 661 EVO pressure suit. I'm sure its prevented several broken bones.
As with all the 661 gear I have had quality isn't great, mine has lasted 18 months and seams are coming apart and straps coming off. Nukeproof or Alpinestars might be better built but more expensive.
Don't bother with the subgear top, its not going to protect you at DH speeds on rocky tracks.
