Wheel Building

Soooo,

I have now been cycling for a few years and I really want to be able to repair and build my own wheels, I have no idea about this at all but am willing to learn and put the effort in. I now have a long summer holiday ahead of me so plenty of time to spend building and tinkering.

My main questions are - Is it worth it? (is the quality of build better than that of a factory wheel?)
-Will it drive me crazy?
-What specialist stuff do I need and what will that cost?
-How long does it take to build a full wheel?

Im sorry if this is already a topic that I have duplicated but thank you in advance for any advice.

    Buy this:

    http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php

It should tell you everything you need to know, including how to make a build / truing stand.

I don't think I'll go back to factory wheels although I get other people to build mine.
