Cycle clubs for 12 year old in North East

As the title suggests does anyone have information on which clubs would be good for my 12 (nearly 13) situated in North East England. Newcastle area preferred but willing to travel. He has recently expressed an interest in road racing. Thanks in advance.

Only just seen this, Willow16. Log on to http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/clubfinder and click on following boxes:
Club, then region. Region will give you Home Country (click), Region - North East (click), then Club (click) which will give you selection - choose Go-Ride (click) which will give you a list of go-Ride clubs, some of which have Newcastle postcodes. From then on, you're on your own.
