Hi I added a question onto the bottom of an on old thread but now thinking that's prob not he best way to do it. So trying again with link (hopefully I'll do it right)

My question was regarding a price for a 2006 bike. My friend has been offered a giant tcr road bike (exactly like the one in the thread). However our other friend selling it is not sure what it's worth. We've been looking but I think with it being older it's hard to find out much info now. Neither of us know much about bikes but looking for an idea of a fair price to both parties.

This is the link

Any thoughts greatfully received

Jules

Can be difficult to price bikes but generally if condition is good and cared for around 25% - 35% of the new price when purchased is what you'll find on most bikes between 3 and 6 yrs old. So around £300 for a bike that cost £1000 5/6 years ago would be my best advice. Obviously adjust slightly either way if less than good or mint condition.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks very much for replying. Neither of us really knows a lot about road bikes but this will give us some idea. Our other friend paid £1500 for it in 2006 so will work off that. Cheers

    £1500 for it in 2006?

I thought that the general feeling is that bike prices have rocketed since 2006 but given the current spec of £1500 bikes, there would be better components & wheels available for that money in 2012.

£300 might be optimistic in my opinion.

Ok thanks will pass over the info. Think bike does need a bit of work ie won't go I to big ring on back and there is a bit of play on front wheel so need to factor this in too.

    Thanks again jules
