Hi,

I think it's about time I bought a stand. Anyone have experience or opinion of the following 2? One can hold the stem seatpost or frame and the bike sits on the other.

Thanks,

The bottom one looks a bit scary, I'm after one and that top one (assuming the clamp turns 90 degrees to hold the seat-post, it implies it does in the advert) looks OK for the money. I'd be interested to know how you get on if you do get one.

the foldable ones from ribble cycles are built well and the clamp rotates 360 degrees, for about £10 more. I'd spend my money there

I bought a pedal spanner (only for about £2.50) off that last seller, it was really, really crap and bent on the first use. They offered to take it back, but were a bit arsey about it. I didn't bother for the value of it in the end. The stand looks OK though.

I've just bought this exact item. It seems good bit of kit, solid etc. Will be testing in earnest tomorrow when I give my bike some TLC.

Arrived today and i have to say im suprised by the brilliant quality. Its really good although i havnt fixed my gears yet which i am a bit annoyed about. The tool shelf has been used more than i thought it would too, its much better than i thought it was going to be. I have to say that i would have paid a lot more for it. I have seen other stands and it seems to be the same quality as the £80 workstands ive seen in bike shops. I am more than happy with my purchase and i would recommend it to any of you. Its easy to use too, im just recovering from a serious back problem and it was very easy for me to use the stand and work on my bike. It makes working on the bike alot easier.

I've got the same workstand, got it from Amazon for £39 including postage. Its very good for the money and quite robust.

Only thing I would say though is don't overtighten the bolt which clamps the jaws onto the cross member, I overtightened mine and the bolt head pushed through the plastic! I fixed it with a new bolt and some washers larger than the hole. Since then its been very good.

Howard on here has one and it looks pretty good. He found that one of the junctions between the armatures slips and lets the bike rotate in the stand no matter how tightly he does up the nuts holding it together. That could be fixed by keying the two clamping surfaces which seemed really smooth to me so it has more friction to grab, or using an epoxy to help it bind together and hold the weight of the bike. Having seen one holding a bike (and that's the limit of my experience), I'd probably buy one but be willing to do a few bodges to make it work properly.
