Hi, I have a problem with my gears in that when I set them up on my stand there's no problem they index fine but as soon as I'm out riding I have trouble when goin from the smallest rear to say the middle rear you can hear is skipping and if I apply pressure it jumps back and forth. Is this just a setting up issue or is it possible something is worn.

    What bike?

Sounds like a full suspension and the cable routing is too short arround a pivot.

    But more info needed.

    Or it is jamming somewhere.

While watching the rear mech apply presure to the saddle and work the rear suspension. Does the mech move in and out? Put it in a middle gear first.
