Just a quick one and im sure its just me being a div.

Ive got XTR shimano cables on Ralph and yesterday the indexing was spot on, Today Ive had to reset it all due to the cables stretching. Is this normal even on high end cables?? I could imagine it happening quite a bit on cheapo cables but these are the full monty top of the line ones.

Im just being a div arent I?

Cables don't really stretch, it is more settlement.

Something I always do after fitting new gear cables, is to shift the mech to the highest cable tension (generally speaking, largest sprocket on the back) then pull the gear cable taught using a gloved hand by the downtube a few times, and pull really hard.
It seems to help pull the cable outer into the ferules properly.

Then set up the indexing as normal.
