Hi Everyone,
I have just bought my first road bike which has pedals with cages fitted.
I am looking for Pedals with cleats and shoes for a fairly modest budget.
Has anyone got any recommendations please?

TIA
Charlie

You should be able to pick up a set of Look Keo Easy's or Exustar Keo compatible pedals fairly easily & relatively cheaply online. Merlin cycles is a good place to start & delivery is pretty swift IME.

As for shoes as it's your first pair it's probably worth going to your local bike shop & trying on different brands to see what fits your feet.
  • Thanks Chaps :)

Really comprehensive advice from coriordan above.

Can only add some observations from personal experience. If it's your first foray into clipless riding then you probably won't want to spend megabucks in case you find it's not for you. Although, like everything, if you persevere it will usually come right with practice.

For SPD-SL type pedals I currently use Look Keo Classics which you can get for around £50. The Keo Easy ones are a bit cheaper and good value for money. A recent review in Cycling Plus also was very complimentary about the Raleigh RSP pedals

These can be sourced on Ebay for about £25

For shoes I would echo coriodan's recommendation for the Wiggle DHB shoes.

Have had a pair for over 2 years now and they are great value for money. With sizing you have to generally pick sizes above your normal shoe size to get the best fit. I am normally a 43 (UK size 9) - I ordered 2 pairs - a 44 and 45 - and sent the 44 back as it was too tight. No problems from Wiggle and the refund was very quick.
