Hi all

I've just taken delivery of a shiny new set of 2012 shimano slx brakes from bike-discount.de - brilliant delivery as usual!

Only problem is I've order the euro versions, ie left lever front, right lever back, how much hassle is would it be to put them right so to speak or shall I just go with them as they are?

What's the consensus?

Cheers I advance

Lee

just swap the hoses over and a short bleed.

if you are lucky you may not even need to bleed.

    read the manual.

I had a go on a mates new bike, but he 'neglected' to tell me he runs them back to front. It was interesting....

    Thanks for the replies.

Am I best detaching the hose at the brake or calliper end to switch over. Not got much experience of messing with brakes, am I likely to encounter brake oil p'ing out when I detach?

Just trying to gauge how long it'll take?

Can't wait to get the crappy Juicy 3's off and moved on!

    Cheers

You basically need to follow this procedure, which is for shortening hoses without needing to bleed (doesn't always work by the way!)

You may need a new insert and olive, not sure if they can be re-used. Of course if the hoses are too long as they usually are, you can do this at the same time.

Well swapping the levers and shortening the hoses went about 50% right, front one perfect, back one defo needs a bleed as the lever goes straight to the bars.

Bleed kit is on the way so presuming a quick bleed will sort out....hopefully.

It's well frustrating, I never got things spot on first go lol

I'd suggest bleeding them after cutting the cables anyway, just in case.
