SRAM XX double with XT gears? 2x10 advice

At present I've got an all XT 10s triple set up. I've got an old XX double chainset. Am I right in thinking the following if I want to go 2x10?
1) The XT shifters can do 2 or 3x10 so I don't need to change them (or do anything to them)?
2) I would be better off changing the FM to the XT double version?
3) The XX double would then slot in fine (obviously with the GXP bb)?
Does this sound reasonable? Thanks in advance.
