I'm not saying it's not annoying, it pisses me off being stuck around them. Just that purely selfishly for them, it makes sense.
Aye, I know. I used to date a girl who was once britain's youngest female HGV driver. Never did find out what a female HGV was though.

If you think it's annoying on motorways, you should see it on dual carriegways

I find HGV and Bus drivers are much more likely to appreciate my getting out of their way.

yeah this biker didn't get out of the way quick enough (yes dredging up old story  )

I've always found HGVs to be pretty courteous, particularly given the number of dick head cyclists who try to pass them on the inside when they are making turns.

    To the OP.

Nothing stops you making a complaint to the police about the drive of said Mercedes wagon. They may have other complaints and will usually follow up with a letter to the RK saying they have had an allegation of driving without due care.

I went to the police with video footage of a driver hitting me (changed lanes without looking or signalling) and was told that the driver had done nothing wrong because I wasn't injured!

Any chance of a link to the footage + how long ago was it?

It was probably about 4 months ago, and I'm pretty sure I got rid of the footage seeing as the police weren't interested.

Nope, Manchester is the exception. Just a dickhead. And the bike's probably stolen.

I've said this before but, the HGV driver who drives his truck like a d1ck, will also drive his car, ride his bike and will generally be a d1ck. I do 4x11.5hrs days and the amount of bad driving and CYCLING I witness would probably make you reassess your opinion with regards to the level of competence of both cyclists and drivers. Education of both parties is long overdue!

You aint kidding, today I saw a couple of women on a single bicycle (one standing one sitting), 1 aged 30, the other early 20s laughing away as they rode the wrong way through a set of major cross road traffic lights, through the red lights (not that they could see due to going the wrong way through the junction) across the flowing traffic and out the otherside forcing cars to stop abruptly...

The mind freakin boggles as to what they were thinking.

Well, I got in touch with Londis' customer service department, and got a nice reply from the head of their transport department who said that he's also a keen cyclist (and therefore automatically awesome).

After a pleasant introduction in which words like "horrified" and "disgraceful" appeared in all the right places, he said,
Please be assured that we take driver standards very seriously with ongoing training and systems that monitor the driver’s use of his vehicle and as you state these drivers are out in the public and are the face of the company and this type of driver standards gives us a bad name
. . . which also led me to wonder what the systems are - CCTV? GPS tracking?

Anyway - they've apologized nicely, so that's that

Most of the decent trucking cos have very sophisticated GPS based systems that can track the truck, the speed, revs etc etc. Basically they can tell exactly what a truck was doing, when and where.

It's true. That's how my neighbour found out his truck was cheating on him with a taxi cab.

I'm not a decent trucker because my truck is tracked. I'm a decent trucker because I'm professional.

It does appear however, that you have the stereotypical trucker intelligence.
He never suggested that tracking makes truckers decent. He simply said that most decent trucking companies use tracking.

It doesn't come accross like that at all, he was merely pointing out that a 'professional' trucker would drive safely anyway. But as usual you're being a total keyboard warrior and being unnecessarily rude to people.

As far as I can see the original statement didn't even make sense, so I don't really see how you can judge someone's intelligence on their response to it.

Then again with comments like that you're obviously extremely bright, so what do I know?

My mistake Yeehaa. For some reason I presumed you were being a twerp and dishing out some pointless drivel to someone who didn't ask for or deserve it.

Can't think why, how silly of me.
