Which chain device?

I am after a chain device for the Kona... I have literally never had an issue with the chain coming off, but think that this would be a sensible bike addition pre Alps / Mega. Given this, I want to spend as little as possible but am not sure which ones would be suitable :?

I am running a 2 ring + bashguard set-up (36-24) and I have the ISCG mounts (although i'm not sure which type without checking!). I've been looking at the Superstar offerings.... Which one would fit?!! Any other around the £50 mark I should be considering?

Thanks :D

Blackspire Stinger. Dirt cheap and does what you need.

+1 for the Stinger. Put one on the 'hopper a couple of weeks back. Light, cheap, simple, does the job

Ok, so any idea whether the Kona uses ISCG (the old one) or ISCG05?

It has the 3 tabs, and I have looked at the differences between the two formats, but one minute I think it's one type and the next the other.... :? The bike is a 2010 model if that helps!!

Ok, so it seems that I have both ISCG and ISCG05 mounts on the Kona (obviously hedging their bets!) :D

Is either one best to go for? I am assuming ISCG05 as it's the newest development....?

Makes no difference. A lot of new bikes still come with the old ISCG.

Uh, you sure? Should only be 3 threaded holes (to have both types you'd need 6?) and there isn't much difference visually between the two types.

Look here http://www.e13components.com/support_iscg_explained.html to identify the exact one.

Yes actually!! I had a look and there are 6 holes which confused me (I was expecting either format of 3...) so I emailed Kona in the states who confirmed that it has been designed to accept both fittings. At least it explains why I couldn't decide which one it was - it's both
