I'm thinbking of building up my dirty jo frame as a 3x9.
I've got everything to run it as 3x7 so what would I need to convert it?
Things I know I'll need are r/h shifter, rear cassette, chainrings.
Will I need a new chain specific to 9 speed or will 7 speed do it (I have a brand new 7 speed chain to go on)?
What about front mech?

Thanks Nathan
Cheers Nathan.

Front mech should be ok but you'll probably a new chain and rear hub as well.

the hub depends on if it is currently a 8/9spd hub with a 4.5mm spacer and 7sp cassette. if it is then you will need. cassette, chain, shifter(s). cables. front mech (old one will work but will shift slowly). chain rings are most likely fine. what are the cranks?

Current cranks are Truvativ something or the others. Some 9 speed rings are for sale that I would buy but the seller said I could use a 7 speed chain, hence the question really. I'll probably only use the 2 smaller rings so it could be 2x9 not 3xp.
Rear hub is spaced out for 7 speed so that is ok.

like is said depending on what they are you could be fine as they might be fine with 9spd. Most are.
