Brake pads

Looking for some spare pads for my shiny new XT brakes. On my old bike with hayes brakes I used disco pads, they were ok although I did have some quality issues with them.
So the new ones have come with metallic ones with the cooling fins (wow are they powerful or what ) The direct replacements are not cheap £23 from Merlin or £17 for the resin ones. So the question is do I go for the Shimano ones or go with another manufacturer EBC for example??????

Have tried them all tbh Superstar, Disco, Ashima, EBC some of them several times but imo the original Avid/Shimano are the best.
Can't see the point in compromising any aspect of braking just for the sake of a few quid0 -
I go for Superstar £6 a set, can't go wrong.0

2 pairs of Shimano original resin pads (no fins version) for £17 delivered:

Other versions cheaper than UK prices too.
That said I've had no issues with Disco Brakes pad on my new XT's.

The sintered pads are noisier, just as powerful, require a little more bedding in and last longer
This time of year I'd be tempted to slot some resin pads in and just enjoy them. The sintered pads are probably better all-rounders.0 -
If the brakes are new, then you won't need new pads for quite some time. Mine are still going strong about a year and 2000 miles later.0
