France - Les Arcs?

I'm thinking of Les Arcs as I have heard on the grapevine that the trails are more XC going downhill rather than full on DH trails...has anyone been who could confirm this is the case?

Also, does anyone know of anywhere similar in that there is some form of cablecar / uplift in France with trails rather than DH runs?

Thanks :-)

    erm sort of...

i found it a pretty frustrating week at first, i was told the same thing as was just expecting trail centre style, manicured descents with lift access, which it wasn't. it's alpine riding so it is steep and challenging, but definitely doable, i was on a 100mm budget hardtail and survived. When you get to know the mountain there are some very very good trails as well, just like i said, took me half the week to get to grips with it.

If i was to do it again i would probably arrange for some guiding whilst i'm out there, they'll be able to direct you to the trails that suit your riding most including some unmarked ones

This was my favourite trail, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol6eBAgOt08

but with a guide you can do more stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdubWYlY ... re=related which just looks epic
