Chain Ring Wear
I would very much appreciate some advice. I've got a Cadd 10 105 fitted with a FSA Gossamer crankset. I've done no more than 800 miles on it and I noticed today when giving it a wash that some of the teeth on the big chain ring are showing serious signs of wear. I'm fairly new to cycling and admit to not knowing much about the mechanical side, but am I right in expecting a major component such as a chain ring to last a lot longer?

is it wear or are they just the shaped teeth. teeth are not all the same shape and size. does it repeat as a patten?
or pics."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It does sound like 'ramping' ..machining on the teeth to assist gear changes.
It catches quite a few people out, not expecting to see it or not aware of its purpose. All perfectly normal.0 -
Thanks for your help guys, I had never heard of 'ramping' so in that respect I'm a wiser man - but more importantly, you've saved my from making a prat of myself at my bike shop.0
