Some of you won't be aware but as a result of Vesterberg's locked 'Massive Cocks' thread, last night Jim453 dared to query that decision and put up a thread querying why it had been locked, especially as it was in the new 'freer' BB. I posted agreeing with him. This morning it was deleted and no explanation given.
The thread wasn't abusive but just a bit of fun and banter imho (have a read). Rick Chasey you either have a different sense of humour to the vast majority on here or have a very blinkered view as to what constitutes abuse. The fact that Jim453's thread was deleted with no explanation just makes a mockery of the whole situation. I'd be very surprised if MattC59 doesn't agree with me. Rick I'm sure your heart is in the right place but you're going to ruin this forum.

I think the problem is mainly this - in the communting section a while back Rick posted saying that he hardly ever visits/visited cake stop as in his opinion it had 'gone downhill'. I often like to have a laugh in the crud catcher (MTB) and for a first time vister there you would probably be shocked, but the CC is self moderating, it has it's own tone. i doubt whether someone who hardly ever visited cake stop, and spends a lot of time in communting and pro race would catch the tone or perhaps even be aware of it.
The general tone now seems to be to treat all users as children - jim hit the nail on the head when he said was the action of the mods really to push long time posters and BR supporters off the boards. All things considered it is trivial to the nth degree but like you suggest if someone cant understand banter, and thereby classify you as persona non grata - thats a bit more questionable. It does need resolving - if only by way of an email to explain why the thread was deleted.

Even before this section opened and it sat like a tantalising carrot on the bottom of the board we were all running bets on who could be the first to post and get banned. and well done that particular badge of Honour seems to have gone to Vesterburg.
I m just P*ssed because my money was on Aggie or Cleat.
I do however feel that having opened a new section specifically designed to avoid causing offence to others who wonder into "Cake stop" of old claiming outrage, which you have to log on to even have access to, then its a bit counter productive and provacative to start policing it to this extent.
We are all (I think) adults, The internet is not private, its a public place and I am sure we are all aware of the responsibilities and limitations on free speech that we have in not causing others offence, its the same as the world at large.
Whats getting my Goat though is that unlike the World at large where you can unconsciously be exposed to things that may offend you without being able to do anything about it. On here you have to Login and put yourself in a position to be offended. And if you do that than more fool you.
As I ve kept saying Aint Rick Chasey got a new bike , surely he's got better things to be doing this Weekend

The thread I've referred to though is hardly a lockable one due to abuse though is it? Who was abused, certainly not me. Calling me a 'big c0ck' and assuming that will offend me is laughable in the extreme. So, assuming MattC59 wasn't offended and didn't report it, why lock it - nobody was abused.
PS. How come I can write censored but when I wrote c0ck in it's correct form it became fool. That needs to be sorted as well

I've been out riding all weekend and trying to get my landlord to re do our bathroom (which is now happening, you'll be pleased to know).
Did 130 odd km today to with a club to properly inaugurate my new bike after almost being blown away by the wind yesterday. Can't quite believe how good it is! Outstanding. Also surprised how well commuting hard into work every day worked in giving me a strong base fitness.
Anyway, Holland are on their way out so i'll get back to that.
