Finally cracked the century

Might seem strange to some of you that I've waited so long to attempt it, but after 2 and a half years of cycling I finally gave it a shot. Got up early grabbed 5 cereal bars and 2 500 ml water bottles and off I went.
One thing that was apparent is 2 water bottles isnt enough lol
Only reason I tried it today is because im going to enter a 100 mile TT in a couple of weeks and it makes sense to actually
ride the distance.

Probably shows with the splits that I faded badly over the last 30 miles

well done - did you do it alone or with mates - the keys to keep well fed I found, chapeau anyway - it is quite an achievement. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -
I did it solo, left early with no wind by the time i got to the turn it had picked up for a lovely headwind lol

Mate that is brilliant. And to do it solo as well. I'm always a little reluctant to do a huge distance on my own, suppose its just the lonliness, but i'll give it a crack one day. I had a look at the strava link u posted and u tackled some steep hills there. Don't laugh at me but I recently did 31miles in....3hours. So the distance you did in 5hrs summat is brilliant. Well done again.0

Those are the flattest roads in the area for me lol, it is mentally taxing 5 hours on your own though your right10 mile TT pb - 20:56 R10/17

Top stuff and snap.
I did the same last Sunday, I didn't go out to do it but i just kept going and when it looked like it was a possibility i carried on and ended up doing 100.33, two pee stops, 750ml of electrolyte, 500ml of water and a bit of flapjack every 15 miles or so.
It took me twenty odd minutes longer than you but i was happy with that and it was good just to clear the distance.
My legs felt ok but i'd pick an easier route next time, a trip up to the staff moors in the middle was a slight mistake but i didn't have any intention of doing the ton at the time.
Sorry for hijacking your post0 -
Supposed to be doing my first one on Sunday... Sportive, rather than a TT, but a hilly one at that. Bloomin' good time/effort you've put in there, especially given that you were doing it solo... My only aim is to get round!Twitter: @FunkyMrMagic0

Enjoy it, I've got a feeling it will be painful :P
I was gutted to see my average drop to 18 to be honest, It was 19.5 at the 87 mile mark but it shows how much i faded in a small space of time lol.
Looks like im going to have to work on my endurance, havent done a ride over 60 miles in a few months now10 mile TT pb - 20:56 R10/17

I'm less than 2 years into my attempt to become a roadie, and I still haven't done one. I've come close a few times, but not gone for completing it. The stupidest one was probably last year, where I did about 195 miles in a 2 day mini-tour without breaking the 100 either day!
I'm also thinking about signing up for a 100 mile TT in a few weeks, mainly to get a baseline for as many distances as possible.0 -
Congratulations on cracking 100 miles at a fantastic speed. Word of caution though, big miles are addictive! I love disappearing into the hills on solo rides. Good luck for the TT and looks as if you are going to get quite a good time judging by your time on your ride.0
