what is it known as(the one on the old black bike that holds the handlebars) i need a new one

    OP on a serious note there are many bolts that it may be but without more info or a picture it couls be anything.

    i suggest looking at parktools so you have an idea.

    Its known as a Flange Gusset. Just go into any hardware store and ask for a 6 inch one, you will usually find them next to the Tartan paint.

    Hang your bike on Sky hooks first though... makes removing it easier. :wink:

    If (as I suspect) it is the one surrounded by the '3T's then it is a top-cap which screws into a 'star fangled nut' (yes really) which is situated inside the steerer tube (the vertical bit sicking up though your frame - part of the fork).

    However it doesn't hold your handlebars on! If this is the one you are after I would suggest a little more googling before you start whatever job you are considering.............
