10 speed chain set with 8 speed cassette and chain.

As above really all the chain sets seem to be 10 speed will they work with a 8 speed set up. I'm going to upgrade the lot over time but wanted to do this first as mine is a cheap one and the bottom bracket is on its last legs.

    yes, but when on the small ring, an 8-speed chain is likely to rub on the big ring, maybe a lot

    you can fit a 10-speed chain, it'll be fine on the rear mech and cassette (as long as the cassette isn't worn)

    Thanks for that my chain and cassette need renewing any way. So I'll just do it all at once.
