Hi,

Just re-fitting a Shimano 12-25t cassette on some new wheels but cannot find the spacer that goes 'twixt freehub and the 3 sprocket cluster; i.e. the one that goes on first before any sprockets. Will the cassette still work without this one? All the other 'sprocket spacers' are present and correct?

The hubs are Novatec 271/272 hubs black 20/24

Cheers

I tend to fit the cassette and then see if any play...if play then fit a spacer...i just put a 12-23 on an rs 10 and used s pacer, but have not done so for other wheels and cassettes....LBS should have spacers...less than a pound

Ive found some cassettes and wheel combo's need the odd extra 1mm spacer; Mavic do !
As above, fit and tighten and if loose stick a washer in
