Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a Hope bash guard to replace the standard one on my SLX double & bash (FC-M665).

Problem is, i'm not totally sure which size i need. CRC show three options for the Hope bash; 32-34t, 36-38t and 40t. Now, since the SLX is a 36-32t am i right in thinking that the 36-38t option is the right one as that will cover the "outer" ring? Or is it not that simple?

Hope you guys can help, and yet again teach me something new :D

Cheers all

Jamie

Really? Blimey, my hunch's on these things hardly ever work! ha ha

Just realised a mistake in my first post, i meant that my SLX's were 36-22t...not 36-32t, but i'm sure you worked that one out :P

So, rule of thumb is that so long as the larger number on the bash matches the larger of your chainrings, you're good to go?

    Thanks for your help mate

rule of thumb the bash size needs to be equal to or just bigger than the number of teath. go too big and you can get chain issues. eg if you fitted a 40 the chain could rub on it when in the small cog on the rear. and then when the bash has hit a few things the dents can lift the chain.
