Either the centos or vengeance-the spec on those looks very similar to me. Choose which one fits/looks best!
The GT is a bit behind on spec, particularly with the fork.

I bought a Vengeance LTD edition 2 years ago, really good bike for me. Well impressed with Carrera bikes to be honest. The only thing I have 'upgraded' was the tyres due to wear and tear. Looking this summer to get new forks though as the current ones have taking some abuse the last 2 years and fancy a lighter/better quality fork.

I mainly use for XC, canals, mild downhill trails, woods etc
  • Either of the Carrera's are OK at £330, but don't be fooled by the RRP as they never ever sell at that, I paid £270 for my Vengeance Ltd 20 months ago and that had hydraulic discs at the time.

While in Halfords I'd also look at the Voodoo Bantu, its around £350 when on offer and has an air fork.
Halfords have the buying power to generally get a better spec for a given price point, but also have a look at 2010/2011 models at Ashcycles.co.uk and Paulscycles as you can often get 30% or more off older models.

Decathlon also worth a look, as its the normal recommendation outside Halfords at these sort of price points

Great advice, thanks very much :)
  • Don't forget you can get a further ca 3% discount using Quidco - not much but a tenner is better in your pocket than theirs, and would buy you some lube , cleaner or maintenance spray
