Mavic Aksium rear hubs..????
I have two sets of Mavic Aksium race wheels. I bought both sets second hand so unsure on there exact age. They are however in near new condition. I want to swap the wheel sets over between my two bikes as one sets silver and the other black, ones campag and the other shimano.
Im planning to swap the freehubs over, not a problem, but what i have noticed is the spoke flanges on the rear hub are different. The flanges are alot wider on the black set than the silver. Now, did mavic change the design at any point and if so which is the best set to go with??

They did. The older one was prone to failure. If you google it, you will see a lot of images of broken flanges on the old typeleft the forum March 20230

pretty sure the freehubs stayed the same....real old Mavic freehubs ran cartidge bearings on the inner part of the body (later ones have a polly bushing) and old old ones are fixed on. The newer FTS (think thats it) come off real easy...allen key off the axel then they pop off (bit of perswasion needed!). Think all Askiums have the newer style so you should be fine.0

They are spot on. In fact, so good, that im moving them over to my giant which is campag equipped. Hence the swap over of freehubs.
