Hello,
I know this is a common topic since the dawn of ride to work tax free bikes etc. but I would appreciate some advice.
I work 2 minutes from an Evans Cycles store so would only like suggestions from their catalogue...
I used to have a 2010 Rockhopper Comp which I absolutely loved, so was naturally going to choose the new 2012 Expert as the replacement.
However, all of the RH 2012 Expert's reviews and forums I have searched appear to only have negative comments!
So if you had a grand to spend in Evans Cycles... what would you get?

I'd take a look at the Trek 6500:

Excellent fork for this money, and some decent kit.0 -
Thanks. Looks good, but is it £200 better than the Rockhopper?0

The fork alone will make it a much much better bike, and the rest of the components are a step up as well.
Of the Spech's the 2011 Rockhopper Comp is a much better deal than the 2012 Expert.I don't do smileys.

I'm getting the feeling that the Rockhoppers' fork specs are what really let them down.
Do the Spesh frames still have a good reputation?0 -
There are no bad frames at this price, the Spesh isn't any better or worse than those for Trek, GT, Marin etc.0

Most frames are decent, it's the bits hung off them that let them down.I don't do smileys.
