im nearing the shelf life of my hutchinson toro rear tyre on my rr9.1 and dont really want(and cant) afford the 40quid to replace it like for like.
i do mostly small tow path to get to the local trails i ride.its a bit of an old cobbly fire road type to get to the xc stuff we ride and the odd trail centre and some time up mugdock country park.some wooded rooty and some muddy trails so i would like any input on best tyre for my riding please.was looking at pana fire xc and bontrager xr4's.but any help from the masses would be invalueable to me
many thanks

I've never spent that much on a tyre.

They are, but I don't use them myself, just saying SS gives good advice.
I trawl Ebay and find lightly used tyres cheap. My current set are tried once (basically brand new) Maxxis Ignitor Exceptions that I got for £28 posted, the pair.
Before that I found a few singles that totalled about the same.

You can get Conti BC MK2 for under £30 if you buy from Germany.
