Hi Guys some advice please....
The army are offering to pay for me to get qualified to take my troop out on adventure training. We have adventure training booked in less than 2 months and I need to get booking or they will have to source another army instructor!
I've been reading around and I'm confused about what level / qualifications I need. Can anybody provide the list of minimum requirements that I will need? Also can anybody recommend some course providers.
Any help is appreciated as I'm confused!
Thanks

Are you based in UK or Germany?
To lead MIL AT as a MTB leader you need a min of Trail Cycle Leader (MBLA)/Trail Leader (MBCUK) or Mias 1/2. Depends what grade of trails you want to go on , and where in the world your AT is.
Make sure you have documented evidence of mountain bike and group leadership experience prior to going on course.
If you go on any course without it, you may only walk away with a "training" qual as opposed to "leader" qual.
Make sure you are "worthy" of a leader qual. I have been on a few courses where the standard of some participants was a little lacking. Make sure you can ride a bike (obvious!!!) Make sure you have some leadership skills (group management, catering for individuals needs, dont always lead from the front eg typical PTI beastmaster!!)
Get your course soon, two months may seem ages but a couple of weeks to sort the cse, do the cse for a week (at most), then get your quals back from the provider (you cant lead without a certificate or log book.
LEt me know where you are then I can give advice with a cse provider. Might be able to help you out with some trail info dependent on where your going.0 -
