I am looking at buying a new hard tail for myself to ride xc swell as to start doing a bit of single track. I have been Lookin at either the Cube Attention 2012 or The Specialized Rockhopper Expert 2012 i have £800 ish to spend. I like the idea on the cube of the PopLoc on the Cube. The Cube i roughly £100 cheaper but with specialised i am wondering if you pay for the brand, what are then main differences between these bikes?
Thanks

imo the Cube is a way better option
recently got an acid 29er and loving it, looks good and very well put together0 -
You pay at least £200 for the spesh name, much better forks can be found on £350 bikes!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Better than both bikes and within your budget if bought from Germany.0 -
How about an Inbred? 26er or 29er versions and decent spec for the money.

Out of interest, which bike did you go for? I'm also looking for a hardtail in the £800 region.
I had a 2010 Rockhopper Comp which I couldn't fault. Regretfully I no longer have it so was considering a RH Expert 2012 to replace it.0 -
Still Cant make my mind up, i am tempted to go for the Cube but read a review that compared it to a Hardrock, so maybe the Rockhopper. On the cube i prefer the general look of the bike and also The Rock show pop loc remote lock out, but if the Rh is better i will defiantly go for that!SPECIALIZED ROCKHOPPER EXPERT 20120

There is very little in the bikes. The Hopper has the better fork (just), the Cube the better drivetrain (but worst cranks), the rest is just about the same.
Whatever fits you best.0 -
Have a look at the Boardman range as well, both the Boardman Comp HT at £649 and Boardman Team HT have better specs, especially the forks. I've got the Comp, great bike.2012 Boardman FS Team

Tempted now to sway towards the Rock hopper Is the Remote lockout on the cube particularly useful though?SPECIALIZED ROCKHOPPER EXPERT 20120

Not for me.0

I've never seen the value of a remote lockout for your forks... you'll probably hardly ever use it, and when you do you can just reach down and adjust it on the fork crown.
Remote for a dropper - yes. Remote to adjust the suspension settings (e.g. Scott Genius) - OK, but a remote lockout - unnecessary.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)

Remote lockout - I just reach down and lock it out if need be.0

They just take up space on the bars, a second to lean forward and use the fork lockout, if you actually need it.
Mine only gets used if I have to do some road stuff, and even then only because it's there and I feel obliged to use it sometimes.I don't do smileys.
