Campag Xenon ergo lever down shifter failure
Hi, all, anyone else had the right hand lever down shifter [thumb] break.
I let someone borrow the bike for a practice run for a triathlon. 10 minutes later they came back with the lever broke, only did a couple of hundred yards. Ironically they were the last ones to use the bike a year ago!!
I appreciate these are the bottom end of the range. They were fitted on a Bianchi Via Nirone Anniversary bike.
So a few years old but only done about 1,000 miles from new [I bought for wife but the bike spends season after season in loft].
I'm guessing not worth trying to repair just more interested if anyone else has had this experience,
Thanks in anticipation, Alan

I don't think it's just down to the shifter. I have a Centaur groupset and the thumb shifter does stick but you have to manipulate it to shift, either by up shifting or flicking the paddle. I would imagine that a lack of experience and being the entry level group set have caused it to fail.
Upgrade the shifters to Veloce, you might still get the same issue but the shifter will be made of stronger stuff.0 -
never lend your bike"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0
