I'm not sure what has happend....so I need help understanding it please.
I removed my TruVativ X9 x10 speed cranks to replace the granny ring, when I reassembled the cranks there was a little play on the none drive side crank arm I torqued the crank arm up as per SRAM web site http://www.bike-discount.de/pdf/products/490.pdf and it was still there so i followed the on line instructions and play is still there. I did this 6 times before I got fed up...after some lunch I stripped it all down and the bearings in my GXP bottom bracket were fine ( looked and feel), it looks like shaft is moving on the inner bearing race
The crank set is 8mth old and so is the bottom bracket....my next step is to replace the bottom bracket with a cheap one to eliminate that....before I do can some body shed light on it please as the play was not there before I stripped it.

Also will this fit http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... 10159#tab1
My frame is OnOne carbon 456.

Thanks and sorry for long post.

So adding grease did not sort it?

Every truvativ chainset i've had has been a pain because of the driveside GXP seal.

    This thing.

Every time i put it back as it's supposed to be put, it works its way out and a) stops actually sealing anything and b) allows the crank to wobble because it's an integral part of the fit.

If you put it the other way round it does a better job of maintaining a good seal, but preloads the bearings and means the crank has a bit of play.

I've still never got to the bottom of it and SRAM don't know either, even after a phonecall to them.

God there is some crap in that thread.

The gap should be there what ever BB width.

If the BB shell has not been prepared correctly then yes you can have isusses.

As you have play on the non drive side and replacing th bearings with grease has not got rid of the play get new bearings/cups.

I am going to replace with a new bottom bracket...I would not fill the gap as I know that's how it's made.
I was not sure why it had happend as there was no play before I stripped it down.

Ikr. However i was referring to the seal discussion not the gap.
