hi all.
would like to say hi, been lurking about a bit since getting my first bike since i was about 14 a couple of months ago. i got an apollo phaze from halfords, i know i got it and then checked it out in places like this and its been slated enough already. but its not too bad.
but i have a couple of questions, firstly lately my brakes have pretty much given up on stopping the wheels ive been re set the cable so that the pads were just off the discs and it worked for a couple of miles then it stoped.
any ideas.
also changing gears especially to the smallest front chainwheel wasent happening so i changed the min setting(i think thats what its called) and now it jumps down but the chain keeps trying to rap itself round the chainwheel.
any suggestions on that also.
last one i promise
i i was thinking of upgrading parts on my frame namely the brakes and gears, any idea how much this would cost or would i be better off saving the money up for a better bike, namely a carrera cracken or vulcan.
thanks all paul.

Sounds like the pads might need changing - could have got contaminated. First lightly sand the pads, and clean the rotor with meths or pure alcohol.
The second bit is chainsuck, usually caused by worn rings/chain.
I would save up for a better bike to be honest.0 -
cheers mate ill give that a try tomorrow.sight 3 se0

sanded the pads and cleaned the rotars and they stop well now, the only thing is when i put them all back together after when i break hard the breaks stay on untill i jump about a bit
also checked the chainring and found one of the teeth has bent right out so i just bent it back.
also hinted to the missus and getting to go shopping in the january sales for christmas.
