Hi

Am looking at getting some rollers but there is a lot out there for under £200.
Does anyone have any good recommendations? A quick look on Wiggle at the reviews all seem positive for most of them, so i'd be interested to see if there are any pros/cons from users on here.

I appreciate this is asked frequently on here but the market is huge so another update wouldn't hurt surely!?!

Thanks.

I bought a set of Tacx Antares from Wiggle, about £140 I think. They are the only rollers I've ever owned but had them a year and can't fault them. Easy to assemble & breakdown again. They fold up nice and small too. Very stable and quiet as well. Good solid build quality and a good price!

like my Cycleops ones - well made, quality alu rollers and if you look around on ebay there are some new bargains out there. High on Bikes had mine on their ebay store about £70 less than normal :D Used the Antares for a while but these definitely seem a step up from them and not much price difference if you look around. Should have got them last weekend with all the jubilee discounts.....

Tacx Antares are noisy and bear in mind the fact that they are plastic means you'll get a nice electric shock if you touch anything metal while you're using them. I would go for aluminium rollers with a smaller drum- they are usually quieter than plastic ones, you get no static electricity buildup, and the smaller drum creates more resistance between roller and tyre.

Tacx Galaxia. I thought the rocker motion or whatever they call it might be a bit gimmicky, but I was definitely wrong! I'd been using my brothers Elite V-Arions before, and the Tacxs are miles better! You can honestly get out the saddle and sprint on these things. Possibly the best bike related purchase I've made.

I think you'll find it's actually Galexia. Look:

I'll forgive you for your mistake though. Even Tacx have spelled the name of their own product incorrectly http://www.tacxgalaxia.com/en_home.html

I own and use Tacx and Minoura (as well as e-Motion but that's another story..) rollers.

For your budget, I'd recommend either of the Minoura rollers. I have the Action Advanced - good quality ride, fairly quiet. The Moz are easier to store/transport. The only down-side is that the resistance units don't seem to be available in the UK if you want harder training but not an issue for me as I have other options.
    I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys.
I took the plunge yesterday and purchased some Elite Arion Mag Parabolic rollers. There were the last pair in a bike shop I was near by, and the owner was happy to set them up in store so I could see them. He also knocked them down to £200 from £260 - who was I to complain?
After 30 minutes in the door frame last night, I am hoping I am good to go but will remain in the safe hands of the door frame until I'm totally happy.
    Thanks again.
