Islabikes seem to be great little bikes for children - saw two sons of riding pals on them the other day - the bikes looked great. Not that cheap I believe but like anything elsse, you get what you pay for.

Islabikes are very popular at our Go-Ride club. The advantages of Islabikes are that they're designed with children in mind, so proportionately they're suited to kids, rather than adult proportions just scaled down linearly; and they're not made from iron pipes, so kids can actually wield them. Because they have a good reputation, they hold their value really well too - a definite bonus when your child may outgrow it within 12 months. They change hands quite readily in our club. (But that also means you will still pay quite a lot even for a second hand one, of course.)
