Just noticed some wobble on chainset/arms, is my BB shot? Only done a couple of thousand miles. Will check BB cups tomorrow.
Say... That's a nice bike..

Campagnolo Centaur. Just removed it, hard to tell as can't wobble axle in hands, so will clean up cups and thread and refit tomorrow.

Correct procedure is thread through, tighten by hand, tighten by hand drive side, then by hand left side, then drive side to 40nm, then opposite to 40nm?

I've just had this problem with my SRAM Red GXP BB86 chainset. I've only done 1000km and this week noticed play in the chainset.

I tried undoing the crankset bolt and it didn't seem that tight to me. I therefore undid the crank bolt, removed the chainset, checked the bearings, seals etc. and refitted. The play has now gone. I don't have a torque wrench so I don't know what the bolt was originally torqued to, but I can only assume that the crank bolt was not tight enough. The bearings seemed nice and smooth so I don't think they are shot.

Removed and refitted, it's got about .5mm of wobble :-( When holding the BB in my hand, holding the drive side cup then wobbling the opposite side I could feel some wobble.

Is your centaur Power torque or the older ultra torque. If its the older ultra torque (two half axles) the bolt inside the crank axle needs to torqued to 40NM if not it can woirk loose and wobble. Ensure the spring clip (drive side) is fitted as this hold the axle in place!

For power torque ensure the 14mm non drive side crank arm bolt is done up tight. Also in both systems there must a wavy washer (NDS) top stop play. sometimes the ultra torque requires two to stop creaking.

    Campagnolo's BB/crank systems are nothingf like FSA's, SRAM's or Shimano's.

Hell you might even have a square taper. Tell what BB and I can help diagnose the problem.

Well if there is wobble with crank arms prperly secured (I asuume you have an ISO taper BB) then the BB is toast. Miche, Tifosi and campag still make ISO taper BB's in the lengths you need. What year crankset is it as I can find tghe BB you need or do you know the length?

Pretty sure English 115.5mm. Says on the BB cup. When I got I presume the Italian version I could not thread the cup into the threads (Italian cups slightly larger?) So got it replaced with one that's smaller which I presume is English.

Chainset is Campagnolo. Think I'll contuniue using BB for a while. Mate commented didn't you just change that?
