Oh yeah much less unique.
Lampre ride Williers and Saxobank will probably be gone next year (43 UCI points so far! in 2012)
So probably one of 3 teams as opposed to one of 2. Not much of a change really.
Except Contador has just signed a 3 year deal with Saxo.
He cant score points for 2 years though. Maybe they'll be back in 2014. Saxo surely wont hang around much longer, they wanted out 2 years ago.
On topic, I liked specialized until the Volagi incident, now I think they're w4nkers. However, I couldn't give a toss what frames the pros ride. None of them will ever be racing on something I would want/afford.
I could see Saxo becoming a Specialized 'Test Team' like Cervelo a couple of seasons ago if Saxo pull out and/or they don't keep ProTeam status. Contador will get them wildcards for any major race they want anyway.0 -

Apart from the only race that really matters to them.
That's what I was thinking....can't imagine that ASO would invite them, but then again stranger things have happened."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
<pie_in_sky_dream> It'd be smashing if Sky could get on some British bikes... OK Raleigh are no longer British owned, but now that they're owned by a larger parents company it would be great to see Sky on some. </pie_in_sky_dream>0

Pinarello deny everything!
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/pinarel ... y-for-2013
Pinarello has dismissed Team Sky’s possible deal with Specialized for 2013 as pure speculation, insisting that they themselves are still negotiating with the British team.Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0 -

Does the deal include helmets and shoes? Spesh have been trying to get Cavendish to wear their BG shoes for ages. Good job SKY don't endorse Zipp having read about some of the issues with Specialized framesM.Rushton0

I'm sure I read somewhere on BR that Murdoch Jr. has some sort of private interest in PInarello, I have no idea if it's true or not but it could well have implications re. Sky sponsorship!.0

Not sure about that but the major business that is Sky Italia certainly has an interest in seeing some meaningful Italian connection with the team which is potentially lost with a switch to Specialized.0 -
Pictures of Fat Bloke on a Pinarello in this weeks Cycling rag says it all.
The Sky cycling 'brand' has become associated with over weight executives buying expensive, overrated frames and dressing as Wiggo on their weekend rides. Sugar looks ridiculous (and knackered!).
Time to go Specialized.
Won't be long before the fat cats ditch their Pina's and buy Venges if they change though!0 -

Doesn't Sugar ride around on a Valverde Spanish Champion Pinarello and 2009 Garmin kit - so hardly a Sky fanboy (which he should be as he made enough money off them).Twitter: @RichN950 -
So all the fat/skinny/spotty hairy legged gringo's on those horrible looking specialised bikes just now dont count then....Think you'l find alan sugar had his pinarello before sky even started.0

They are also moving to Rapha clothing next year, dumping adidas.
Nothing to do with any financial involvement people at the team have with rapha, oh no. No conflict of interests have ever affected decisions made by the team. Flying riders over to ride the smithfield nocturne run by the teams 'operations managers' company etc, etc........0 -
