Morning ladies and Foxc,
Pi$$ing it down here this morning. It makes a lovely peaceful sound, but I'm not looking forward walking into work in an hour.
Hopefully today will be quite care free and relaxed, however, I know that I'm trying stuff out with our work Network bloke, and he's pretty useless
Anywho, onwards to more tea!
Laters!

Mornings nice people of the web.
This morning i was woken by a small animal with needles for feet and a bell round its neck.

Modified the shed last night to except 2 proper sized bikes and 2 small people bikes ontop of all the other stuff we need to keep in there! bring on the move so i can have a man cave for me and the bikes and i wont have to share my space with anyone Mwahahahahahaha0 -

sitting out the clock on a friday afternoon here... but looking down the barrel of a long weekend so not too shabby really its for the queen, i know it happened last week but we are a little slow on the uptake here... so i will probably try to squeeze 2 outings on the bike and aim for 0 spd related incedents...... fingers crossed... a wee bit tricky to get back into after running flatties for so long...

For a short week its been a long one but it is Friday at last. Just got to get through the next 4 and a bit hours without minions hassling me. No plans for the weekend but sleep is high up on the list of things to do. Apart from that I might head over to Grizedale for a quick spin round the trails. It'll be pretty wet so I be able to judge if my new tyres are up for a bit of mud plugging.
Second coffee is calling.
Later......0 -
morning all,
i had a good ride at FoD after work yesterday, i didn't see any smurfs though :?
it's peeing it down here right now so no ride later and i'm supposed to be going to nant yr arain on sunday, i've checked the forecast and it says the weather should be ok, i hope so
i was woken up by the gf at 3am saying 'what's that noise?' it sounded like a rat was scrathing away in our fitted wardrobes, so in i go armed with bike gloves and a mini pump - it was the timers for the lights had become stuck and was ticking away stuck in one place
ah well, it's friday and that means cooked breakfast day, so later bumders and bumettes have a good one 8)0 -

Morning homos.
Bank holiday here today, should be watching the senior but as the weather is gash, I can't see it happening.
Just waiting for an email back from the Glentress campsite to confirm if when he said "camping cost for the 2 nights is £96 + bike store £20" he actually meant £96 per night (considering how many of us and how many tents, it's not entirely clear) then I can get booked up on that.
Also looking into booking onto the uplift at inners.

Rain. Nearly fell off Trevor last night. Got rained on too.
I've got to work an hour extra today, and am supposed to be going off to the pub for a couple, but I'm still knackered from the weekend so might not go.
Got to go back out into the rain in a minute. fun.
Kisses

Working from home today, looking out of the window at the p!ssing rain - let's hope it clears up ready for tomorrow's 22 miler in the Peaks!!
Changed the tyres back over to mud ones last night - how depressing, summer tyres on for 2 rides then have to swap back againCat With No Tail wrote:Also looking into booking onto the uplift at inners.
Tempted to join you in this - what day are you going for? Sat or Sun?0 -

Morning mongs
It is also raining here today, which is not good. Suffolk Show cancelled so chaos on the roads as hundreds of confused old people decide to stop in the middle of the A14 to ask the nice Policemen why they can't go and see a bunch farmers sitting around.
High winds also mean that I'm not chancing the forest on the 456 as the wet weather is making the pines rather prone to being blown over. Lucky I didn't have the bike too as some old chuff had decided to fly tip a load of rubbish outside one of the unmanned fire stations.
Also looked through my work stuff this morning and I (think) should be getting my bonus paid in this months salary, which will be good as I am totally skint after last nights purchases.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

Morning gurners...
Fcuk this rain again, may have to smash the place up...thekickingmule wrote:Is it possible to get an uplift to do the XC route down?
What he said... does the uplift go right to the top though? guess we can ride the last bit if not... Descent from minch moor is EPIC0 -
Morning Gimps,
Windy as hell here which is making my bike outing look decidedly dicey, so may have to go out for a run or the gym instead At least there's beers up in town with my old work lot to look forward to, should be a good evening."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
I'm lead to believe that the uplift does go right to the top.
The price for a place on the Uplift is £32 per day.
•Sign on opens - 8am
•First uplift leaves carpark at 9am sharp
•Estimated finish time - 4.30pm
The uplift does 8 runs per day with a lunch break half way through the day
I'm sadly lacking a DH bike (and DH skills), but I'll probably still give it a shot on the Reed anyway. 140mm on the back and 160mm on the front should be more than capable, even if I'm not. You've got to try these things.
I was thinking about doing it on the Sunday. I'd have to leave a bit early (got to be back in Liverpool @6 for the ferry) but should get 4-5 runs in I reckon.0 -

That sounds like a plan, the XC routes on Saturday, followed by the uplift on Sunday to ease the tired legs
I'll book myself on it right now, which means I'll be bringing both bikes
By the way, I'm sadly lacking in the DH skills too but hope to make up for it with a bit of stupidity.0 -

CWNT Have you been to Inners before? You're a braver man than me, I've seen some of the descent through the trees and decided "Nope". The DH starts a little lower down than the XC, but it would be possible to ride up from there I suppose. It's a killer of a climb if doing it from the car park. It really points the locals out from the "I ride DH but haven't actually seen a mountain"It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

The morning started, oh crap is that thunder and lightning? i'm riding the bike, no, I can' be bothered routine. After several changes later I've walked in.
The good part of the short week, has ended (the loud one is back :x )
I've fully commited to http://www.thekaiserchallenge.com/ and parted with my hard earned cash.
Tonight will be spent doing as little as possible... Gotta start doing some serious bike mileage.0 -
I've been watching some of the runs on youobvious today and it looks like probably the hardest DH I'll have ever attempted (que the usual "That's not hard, I did that on a unicycle, in the snow, while I was dead" comments).
But I want to use this trip to push myself.
Since breaking my leg I'm really struggling to get over that mental block. I want to do this on the reed (even very slowly) just to prove to myself I can.
It does very much look like one for "proper" DH bikes though. Which is a shame because I'm now looking at some of them on ebay! must.... resist..... N+1.......
Edit: Actually, what I'm going to do is demo a Session 88 or Saracen Myst from Alpine bikes. Should give me more of a fighting chance to not die. lol0 -

i had one of those moments on tuesday where i went to a track near my house, i always take the right track which is steep and pretty easy really, but the left track is STEEEP, rocky, rooty, has some huge 8-10ft drops, gap jumps etc etc...i thought i was an OK DH rider..but i'm not0 -

Managed to get out on the bike after all once the worst of the gusts had died down. Still got blown about a bit mind. That's put me in a good mood so I'm off up to London for beer, hookers and blow (though not necessarily in that order)"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." back in work after an impromptu snow fall brought down powerlines to the village and put all prospects of work out the window yesterday. Nice to get an impromptu day off but it rained all day in the valley so I didn't get to bike as I had hoped and I live int he village with no power so staying at home and slobbing in front of tv was not an option either.
Work today is dull - fighting urge to sleep at my desk - sharing an office with three others means this is an important urge to fight. Weekend approaching = good. Weather forecast = bad. Prospects of a dry ride = Zero.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
