When I've cleaned my bike I've always made sure its dry and used something to repel water, but the 6 bolts on the stem and also the bolts on the brake lever clamps have rusted. Is this normal? Is it because they're cheap bolts and would replacing them help? Just looks cheap and nasty ha. Thanks in advance.

You can get stainless bolts, but they are not quite as tough (usually). Just scour it off and put a bit of grease on them.
