Cleaning rear mech...

Do you guys have any special tips on stripping & cleaning a rear mech?
i.e. degrease, regrease, soak in diesel, just give it a good once over with a tooth brush & soapy water etc etc
I'm about to fit my old Deore mech to a new frame. I've ordered a set of new jockey wheels as they are knackered. Anything else I should be doing to give the mech a new lease of life?
Any tips appreciated.
Cheers.

Mine normally consists of degreasing, scrubbing with a tooth brush, the re lubing all the pivots and moving parts, you could clean the cables as well if you fancy0

Diesel belongs in trucks, not on mechs. Give it a clean with Muc off or soapy water, oil the pivots.I don't do smileys.

Yep - sounds about right. Grease or lube on the moving parts?"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

I use a light oil, 3 in 1 or cycle oil, or sewing machine oil or whatever the tin says. Just a drop on the pivots. Grease will just turn into a claggy mess.I don't do smileys.
